Although there are no long-term issues for Strudel, she is still shedding the virus. This means that her new home must have dogs that are 2+ years old with a solid vaccination history or no other dogs at this time, and she cannot be exposed to other puppies for 6 months. Caution should be taken with exposing Strudel to adult healthy dogs too, but the risk of a vaccinated adult healthy dog contracting Parvo is very minimal. Strudel will not be able to visit dog parks, pet stores, training facilities, or any other public areas that dogs frequent for three months, as she may leave the virus behind, and puppies or unvaccinated adult dogs would be at risk.         Strudel would love to snuggle with you!        Puppies generally need the following veterinary care after their adoption:   8 Weeks:  Distemper/Parvo & Bordetella Vaccinations.â€ۚ Luv of Dog Rescue completes these vaccinations before adoption.  12 Weeks:  Distemper/Parvo Vaccination, completed at the veterinarian of adopter's choice.  16 Weeks:  Distemper/Parvo Vaccination, Rabies Vaccination, completed at the veterinarian of adopter's choice.  6 Months:  Spay/Neuter surgery.    Yearly thereafter:  All dogs need yearly wellness exams performed by a veterinarian as well as booster vaccinations.  ~Spay/Neuter surgeries cost between $150-$250 for a neuter and $300-$400 for a spay in the FM Area.  Wellness visits can run from $50 to $100 for each visit.  If you are thinking of adopting a puppy, it's a good idea to research these costs before adopting by calling the veterinarian of your choice. â€‹      Foster Home Feedback 9/14/19: Strudel is a sweetheart and beauty. She doesnt often jump up when greeting you, instead, she has learned to sit when you approach so she gets her treat. Outside, shes getting used to walking on a leash and is doing pretty well. She looks at you and recognizes your cues. She does much better at this when her sister isnt with since they love to chase each other and wrestle. Potty training is going fairly well considering shes just 11 weeks. She is very quick to learn, even figuring out how to climb on many things if she thinks a treat is nearby. Strudel doesnt spend a lot of time in the kennel. She has a gated area with toys and beds and is pretty satisfied to be in this space. When Im out of the house, she will stay quietly in her kennel. She has been here with her sister, so at times, I walk them separately. She gets a little upset and barks for a minute or two. Strudels a joy to have around. She will sit calmly on your lap to absorb all the attention! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website:
